PETTLE Wine Bottle

In a Joint Venture with Air NZ, LinkPlas utilised innovative manufacturing techniques and the latest technology barrier materials creating a 'world first' in the production of a P.E.T 187ml wine bottle for use in the airline/entertainment industry.

This required more than four years of product development and testing to ensure the shelf-life of 12 months and integrity of the wine was achieved.

The results are a plastic bottle with the same appearance, feel and
characteristics as the glass predecessor. This offers the airline and entertainment industry huge weight and fuel savings, improved speed of inflight beverage service and safety.

The Pettle weighs 34gm versus the glass equivalent of 154gm, a saving of 120gm per bottle. A major advantage of the bottle since it's launched is there have been no leakages through the accurate neck finish, which had previously been a problem with the glass equivalent

The Pettle was put through 52 weeks of testing, including:

• Oxygen transmission rates
• Independent Taste testing
• Free SO² (an indication of oxidation)
• Ascorbic Acid test
• Colour testing
